Brad is a part-time psychology professor at Saint Mary's University in Halifax. In his therapy practice, Brad works with children (8+), adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Brad considers himself a “theoretical integrationist.” His approach begins with an understanding that we each have a unique experience of the world and have our own story to tell. Brad emphasizes that we are all driven by biological processes and that our biology has been shaped, and is constantly being shaped, by our relationships with other people, both past and present. In psychology terms, his assessment and therapy work would draw upon humanistic, neuroscientific, attachment, and psychodynamic theories. Brad uses a variety of therapy interventions and will use an approach that best serves a particular individual, couple, or family. Download C.V. ![]()
Darren Fowler, Psychologist
Darren is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. He completed an M.A. in Counselling Psychology at McGill University and received postgraduate training and supervision in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) through the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University. He is currently a part-time psychology professor at Saint Mary’s University. Darren specializes in treating adults with concerns including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship problems, anger issues, grief, and emotional conflict. His therapeutic approach is integrative and combines principles from psychodynamic and emotion-focused therapies. An increasing amount of research and clinical experience support these methods of treatment that emphasize the necessity of being more emotionally aware and experiencing and expressing a wide range and balance of healthy emotions. From this framework, and within the safe environment of the therapy room, Darren works with a client to promote meaningful change. In working with couples, Darren draws from a related approach called Emotionally-Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT). When treating individuals with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), he utilizes a cognitive framework with graded emotional exposure and anxiety-regulating techniques. Download C.V.
